Reach Toronto is a Not-for-Profit organization, specializing in unique programs that focus on the life and social communication skills required to become more independent, contributing members of the community. Our clientele includes neurodiverse youth and adults (e.g., Autistic, down syndrome, social communication disorder) as well as unique communities that require tools to help them achieve greater independence as well as improve their quality of life through life skills training.
Our Four Pillars program takes a holistic approach to teaching life skills. They were developed with the idea that to be independent, learning skills in four main areas of life must be the focus of any training program. Our pillars include training in the following areas:
The goal of the food for life program is to empower as many of our clients with the ability to
gain real life relevant education and training on shopping, healthy and economical meal planning, recipes, and basic
cooking skills. Our program has been modified to serve neurodiverse clients looking to gain more independence as well as neurotypical youth, children, families and elders in various communities who require elemental nutrition training for the good of health and community.
Clients learn skills to live independently in their own space, adhering to routines and schedules and performing activities of daily living such as cleaning, laundry etc. Whether they are looking to become more independent in the family home or leaving home for the first time, this program provides the skills necessary to navigate the home environment
Clients learn about money management, savings and budgeting, needs vs. wants and living within their economic means.
Clients learn skills for gaining and retaining employment, through an exploration of their soft and hard skills, their interests and personality qualities to help find suitable and satisfactory employment, volunteer or career opporunities.
All our pillars integrate training of the social and communication skills required to successfully navigate each of the pillars (social norms and etiquette, social expectations, non-verbal language).
